Happy Earth Day, folks. I don’t want to sound like a tree hugger, but I’m very adamant about creation care. Most secular people are probably going to focus on the terms environmentalism and and ecological concern, and they are very right about these viewpoints. I thank you for being that voice.
Christians have something to add on to the discussion. It’s the term creation care. We are creationist. And we confess God as the owner of all this earth.
Read this Psalm
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters.” – Psalm 24:1-2
So as you go out trying to observe and celebrate this day set aside for the earth, keep that in mind. We Christians must reflect the beautiful reality of the new kingdom. Recycle, eat less meat, eat just enough to live, be concerned with how you’re growing plants, and what chemicals do you use in a day that might be harmful for the earth you were commanded to protect.
But in all those rules, always found your life on the fact that you must love the Lord your God, and also love others. If you do this, you will fulfill all that God wants to revitalize and resurrect on his good, green earth.
I hope you find this thoughtful
Grace and peace.
